Cares Winter Coat Drive: November 1, 2010 - Martin Luther King Day 2011
SOME EXPECT THE SHIRT OFF YOUR BACK...............WE JUST WANT THE COAT!
The Greater Philadelphia region is a cold place to be during the winter, especially if you do not have a warm coat.
Be part of the Greater Philadelphia Cares 15th Annual Winter Coat Drive.
Last year over 150 businesses, civic groups and individuals collected 10,000 new and gently used coats that were distributed throughout the region. Start a drive at your church, school or office, or visit one of our public drop off sites between now and January 17th, 2011.
Every year, thousands of men, women, and children in the Greater Philadelphia region live through the cold winter season without a coat to keep warm. You may help provide them with this basic necessity. This event is a reminder that there are thousands of people whose only holiday wish is a warm coat for their children, parents, or themselves.
There are two ways area residents may help:
- Set up a collection campaign at your office, school, church, or community organization. Simply complete the Count Us In web form, or write down your information and fax it to us at 215-564-4543.
- Drop off your new or "gently used" winter coat at any of our public collection sites from now through January 17, 2011. All collected coats may be delivered to our generous project partner, St. Vincent DePaul.
Any donations of 10 coats or more must be delivered to the central St. Vincent DePaul warehouse at 901 East Luzerne Street, Philadelphia, 19124. The warehouse is open from 9:00am-3:45pm Monday-Saturday.
St. Vincent De Paul will be closed on January 17, 2011. Please arrange to drop off your items before or soon after that date. You are also welcome to join GPC at Girard College and drop off your donations at 2101 S College Ave. from 9am-12pm on MLK Day!!
